Position Description:
New Model Zone Engineer associates will be responsible for overall equipment activities pertaining to equipment install, troubleshooting and innovation proposals. Establishing communication links with installation suppliers and internal teams will be key in developing a strong running zone. Ability and desire to work hands-on with equipment a must.
In addition to equipment management, associates are responsible for total delivery characteristics in Weld process and verification against spec of those products throughout model development and mass production launch.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
Set and meet Department performance targets and measures.
Monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessary, regardless of model and model timing.
Develop solutions to problems of various scope and complexity using Honda problem solving methods.
Make sound decisions with some direction.
Apply keep customer viewpoints in all department activities.
Continually develop self-awareness and leadership capability.
Build dept/plant/division knowledge and broaden Honda and business management knowledge.
Build a network of productive relationships across Honda to achieve department plans and targets.
Daily Tasks:
Learn existing equipment specifications.
Investigate change points per equipment from existing standards.
Update equipment standards as needed.
Create drawings in Autocad or Catia for each equipment.
Investigate new equipment that are missing from spec sheets.
Add all basket specs to equipment for automation processes.
Submit all necessary documents for ISO approvals.
Complete and maintain cell layouts.
Lead zone equipment installation and troubleshoot as needed.
Support lift assist development and installation with process engineer.
Track all pending items (S/Q/D) to closure.
Ensure all spare parts (equipment, fixture pins, tools, etc) are in-house prior to mass production for each project.
Support LOTO placarding updates based on cell layout changes as needed.
Complete Equipment Acceptance for project's equipment installation.
Coordinate equipment maturation with Honda Engineering.
Complete any necessary checkout for logic, interferences, or other issues from equipment installation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
PLC Programming and troubleshooting.
Motion control troubleshooting.
Motoman robot experience.
Computer Skills: Excel and PowerPoint.

Required Experience:
3-6 months relevant experience
Internships for relevant skill sets (optional)
Required Education:
4 year degree in mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, or similar degree or relevant experience.
Honda Factors:
Work environment: Production Floor/ equipment/ office.
Estimated Amount of Overtime: 150-300 hours/ year.
As needed --1-2 weeks 3 x per year amount of Travel.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
