New Model Cost Accountant
Position Core Role:
New Model Cost Accountant is responsible for the internal and external new model cost evaluation preparation and reporting. This position will work cross functionally with other departments, affiliates and related suppliers for analysis of cost, startup expense and investments.
Essential Function and Responsibilities:
Cost Project leader for designated New Model event/project. Support development of new model budget templates at each event. Analyze and report month end budget vs. actual variances in expense and investments. Support all cost evaluations throughout project. Ability to analyze and report evaluation to evaluation cost change points (in house cost, overhead, logistics)
Daily Tasks:
Attend cost zone meetings with project leaders. Support Accounting department business plan themes. Create/maintain standard operation procedures or work instructions. Support new model cost linkage to business plan and target setting. Support in-house vs. outsource decisions. Accounting worksheet maintenance and review.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Comfortable to work with various financial modules within SAP
Multi-tasking and time management
Ability to use technical data and transform into accurate cost
Chart making and presentation skills are critical
Strong inter-personal and communication skills with ability to maintain positive outlook and good attitude in a fast-paced environment
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of prior Peoplesoft, Essbase or SAP system experience
Prior manufacturing company experience
Accounting concepts
Minimum of 4 years of budgeting and financial analysis
Education Requirements:
BS or BA in a relevant field
Honda Factors:
Willingness to work overtime and weekends on occasion to meet budget and reporting deadlines. Peaks for new model events, budgets and closing activities.
Travel to other locations for occasional cost coordination activities or training



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
