Decatur County REMC (DCREMC) has an opening for a Staking Technician in the Line/Operations Department.
DCREMC is a not-for-profit electric distribution, member-owned cooperative.

The Staking Technician is responsible for designing and staking of electrical distribution lines and facilities in accordance with DCREMC and RUS construction specifications as well as the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements.
The Staking Technician meets with members, prepares cost estimates, staking sheets, procures necessary construction permits, landowner right-of-way easements and administers necessary service application documents.

General objectives for this position include:
Perform staking functions to design overhead and underground lines.
Prepares staking sheets and construction drawings for services.
Works out design, access and right of way issues with members.
Secures permission or easements.
Must be familiar with operation of substations, sectionalizing equipment, regulators, bypass switches, proper fusing of the system, distribution layouts, feeds, and circuits.
Perform assigned work under minimal supervision and in compliance with established NESC, RUS, Cooperative specifications and policies, code safety rules, and general operation procedures.
Maintain and update distribution system GIS circuit maps and consumer location mapping as needed.
Leverage opportunities to develop member support, understanding, and acceptance of the coop procedures and activities as they pertain to membership.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:
Two years of college or technical school in electrical or electronics engineering or equivalent, demonstrated work experience in a related technical or utility position.
Minimum of two years' experience position with related job duties, such as engineering, electrical, survey, or similar role preferred.
Experience:
Must have the ability to design requested services and to prepare staking sheets for work orders, based on a review of the Service Order Request and a field inspection of the site.
Must be able to read and interpret lines, schematics, or technical drawings.
Must have the ability to estimate the cost of a new service to the consumer.
Must be proficient with operating various computer applications and engineering and mapping software.
Must be capable of working and communicating effectively with members, employees, and a variety of individuals, as well as work independently to meet deadlines.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and field conditions.
