Director of Emergency Services
Summary:
The supervisor of the Emergency Department is primarily responsible for assisting with the supervision and management of nursing staff and support staff who provide direct care in the Emergency Department.
The supervisor, as a registered nurse, practices nursing within the realms of the Standards of Nursing Practice, Nurse's Code of Ethics and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
Inherent in the practice is the nursing process:
the assessment of the patient status, the plan of nursing actions, the implementation of that plan and the evaluation of the plan.
The supervisor's patient population will include patients from infant to geriatric patients who present with emergent problems.
The supervisor must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's status in order to provide the care needed as described in nursing policies and procedures.
Work Schedule:
Must be able to work non-standard hours, which may be in excess of 40 hours per week.
SKILLS & ABILITIESEducationASN, BSN, Diploma Degree from an accredited School of NursingExperienceTwo to four years related experienceComputer SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.
Computer experienceCertificates & LicensesCurrent Indiana RN license required.
Certification in CPR, BLS.
Other RequirementsMay take up to 6 months to become proficient in this position.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, lifting and carrying 0-100 lbs and pushing and pulling 0-100 lbs.
